Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)

Prevent Consulting is nationally certified through the National Institute for Crime Prevention (NICP) and holds the CPTED Professional Designation (CPD). CPTED is based on the theory that the proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in the incidence and fear of crime and to an improvement in the quality of life. It has been proven, THE PERCEPTION OF THE ENVIRONMENT DICTATES CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR. If a would-be offender feels comfortable committing a crime on your property, it is likely he or she will do so. Prevent Consulting can review your construction plans or assess your existing home or business and show you how changes to the environment can mitigate criminal acts and force the would-be offender to commit his or her act at another location, effectively DESIGNING OUT CRIME!

Crime Prevention

With 25 years of law enforcement experience combined with the NICP CPTED Professional Designation, Prevent Consulting is well equipped to inform customers on proven strategies of crime prevention. Utilizing access control, mechanical security measures and properly placed lighting, let Prevent Consulting help you as a home or business owner mitigate you or your customers from becoming crime victims.

Policy & Procedures

Written policies and procedures are an integral part of your company’s overall security plan. Your business security policies and procedures outline the framework of acceptable behavior by your employees and ensure their safety and the safety of your clients and vendors. Written security policies and procedures are personalized and specific to each individual business and should be a shared process with key stakeholders. Prevent Consulting can assist with this process and make recommendations based on best practices.
